Orientation
After being admitted to IUPUC, there are a couple things you’ll need to do before you can begin classes.
The sooner you do these, the better, because you’ll be more likely to get the classes you want at the times
you want. These things include setting up your IT account, taking placement tests, attending orientation,
and registering for classes. You’ll need to complete the first two before you attend orientation.
-
Set up your IT account
All new students need to set up their IT accounts that will allow them to access IUPUC email and other
key online tools such as OneStart and OnCourse (you’ll learn more about these at orientation). You
should follow the instructions you received from the Admissions office in order to set up your IT
account. If you have questions about setting up your account, please call the University College
front desk at (812) 348-7271.

Placement testing
The next step after being admitted to IUPUC is to sign up for and take any required placement test(s).
You should have received a letter in the mail with information about which test(s) you need to take as
well as how to set up an appointment to do so. At most, you’ll take two tests—English and Math. Each
placement test will take less than an hour to complete, and there are a variety of times available.
If you have lost your placement testing letter, call the University College front desk at (812) 348-7271.
Placement Testing Information
After you complete placement testing, you’ll be given information about setting up a day for your orientation session.
For all beginning students, as well as transfer students with less than 12 hours of transfer credit, orientation is
required; and it includes both advising and registration for your first semester of classes at IUPUC. For transfer
students with more than 12 hours of transfer credit, an orientation specific to transfer students is available and
encouraged, but not required. Transfer students need to make an appointment (separate from orientation) to meet
with their advisor in order to be able to register for classes.
